In a recent project, lintratek completed the mobile signal coverage for a substation office building located in Inner Mongolia. Covering an area of approximately 2,000 square meters, the project posed unique technical challenges due to its geographical and structural conditions.

 

Problem: Harsh Winds and Heavy Signal Blockage

 

The substation is situated in a high-wind region frequently affected by Siberian gusts. To withstand such conditions, the building is reinforced with thick concrete walls, steel rebar, and an external metal outer wall. This heavy-duty construction created significant mobile signal shielding, leaving the interior with little to no coverage.

To overcome this, lintratek’s technical team implemented the KW37, a 5W dual-band commercial mobile signal booster with up to 95dB gain. The device is equipped with AGC (Automatic Gain Control) and MGC (Manual Gain Control), enabling it to adapt to fluctuating outdoor signals and maintain consistent indoor signal output.

 

Unique Antenna Strategy for Wind Resistance

 

In typical scenarios, a log-periodic antenna is used as the outdoor donor antenna due to its strong directional performance. However, in this case, the powerful wind posed a risk of misalignment. A shift in the antenna’s angle could easily cause instability in the signal source from the base station, leading to indoor signal issues.

After evaluating the site, lintratek’s engineers were informed that the outdoor signal source was strong and stable. As a result, they chose to install a compact panel antenna directly on the building’s exterior pole, which is more resistant to wind while still ensuring reliable signal reception.

 

Indoor Distribution: Seamless Coverage

 

To ensure full indoor signal distribution, lintratek’s engineering team strategically installed 20 ceiling-mounted antennas throughout the building. This setup guaranteed seamless signal coverage across all 2,000㎡ of indoor space, eliminating all dead zones.

Thanks to lintratek’s experienced construction team, the entire signal enhancement system was installed and commissioned within just 2 days. The very next day, the client conducted an acceptance inspection. The results confirmed that the building achieved strong and stable 4G signal coverage with no blind spots.
