Pumped storage power stations, as “super power banks” to ensure energy security, are often located in mountainous areas. Their core infrastructure areas, such as underground factories, water conveyance tunnels, and transportation tunnels, naturally become the “hard bones” of mobile phone signal coverage due to deep buried rock layers, enclosed spaces, and complex structures. The daily communication of staff is blocked, the transmission of equipment inspection data is unstable, and there are blind spots in emergency communication, which not only affects construction efficiency but also poses potential risks to safety production.
Previously, we received a request from the Huizhou Zhongdong Pumped Storage Power Station project party to create a stable and comprehensive signal coverage plan for its core infrastructure area. Unlike ordinary scenarios, the underground space of power plants has strong rock barriers, fast signal attenuation, and extremely high requirements for equipment anti-interference and durability.
Our team went deep into the project site as soon as possible.
We have customized a signal enhancement scheme that is suitable for complex underground environments by crossing tunnels, surveying factory layouts, and considering the construction progress and communication needs of the power station.

Technical Challenge
The signal coverage inside the tunnel is crucial for ensuring construction safety, improving construction efficiency, and meeting future communication needs. However, due to the unique structure of tunnels, signal coverage has always been a technical challenge.
Crossed tunnels, surveyed the layout of the factory building, and customized a signal enhancement plan that adapts to complex underground environments based on the construction progress and communication needs of the power station.
From precise signal source capture, equipment selection and installation, to phased debugging in multiple areas, the entire process adheres to the principles of “safety, stability, and efficiency”
Solution Design and Implementation
The team adopted the “tunnel specific signal coverage system” solution through online communication and offline field investigation in the early stage, and achieved long-distance low loss transmission through optical signal conversion.
The fiber optic repeater used in this scheme has the advantages of shielding signal interference, preventing radiation, IP65 waterproof and moisture-proof, etc. It can achieve ultra long distance transmission, is suitable for use in ultra large projects, and can form multiple coverage forms.

High performance antennas are deployed outside the tunnel to receive signals, and plate-shaped antennas are also used inside the tunnel to cover signal blind spots, thus achieving full signal coverage inside the tunnel.
